Financial Aid and Scholarships

USC is committed to helping students finance their undergraduate education through need-based financial assistance, merit scholarships and affordable financing programs.  The University administers one of the nation’s largest financial aid programs, awarding aid to more than 60% of our undergraduate students each year.

Financial Aid
USC has a long tradition of meeting 100 percent of the USC-determined financial need for undergraduates who satisfy eligibility requirements and meet all deadlines.  Currently, more than 60% of USC students receive financial assistance in the form of merit-based scholarships, need-based grants, on-campus work, or low interest loans.

Applying for financial aid is a separate process from admission to the university.  The financial aid application process consists of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Financial Aid PROFILE, and copies of tax returns.  Please read Applying For & Receiving Financial Aid on the USC Financial Aid Website.

The University will meet the full USC-determined financial need of admitted undergraduate students who satisfy all federal, state and university eligibility requirements and deadlines.  Financial aid consists of grants and scholarships, loans and Federal Work-Study.

Scholarships
The Viterbi School faculty and staff select candidates from an extremely selective pool to receive merit based scholarships.  Applicants pursue the most demanding curriculum and acheive at the highest level.  In addition to academic criteria a student's leadership, service and involvement are considered.  Awards are typically renewable for four years and range from $2,000 to full-tuition.

If you complete and submit The Common Applicaiton and USC Supplement by December 1st, you will be considered for our merit based awards.

Please see USC Financial Aid's Scholarship Page for details on each of the awards.

Additional Scholarship Programs are offered by USC affiliated groups (e.g. alumni groups) ranging from $1,000 to $10,000.  Each of these groups have different eligibility standards and application processes.  Please download the USC Scholarship Guide for a comprehensive list and instructions for each award.

If you are admitted to the Viterbi School and receive a partial tuition award from Navy, Air Force or Army ROTC, you may also be eligible to compete for a supplemental grant from the School.
