Advisement & Academic Services

Academic Services and Student Support

The Viterbi Admission and Student Affairs staff offers a variety of academic and student support services to have students succeed and achieve their goals while they are at Viterbi.

Advisors

First Year Advisors

Viterbi has a team of advisors that focus specifically on first-year students and helping them transition into life at Viterbi and USC.  During an advisement session, students can discuss topics such as:

  • course selection and registration
  • career planning
  • choosing a minor or courses of interest
  • overseas studies programs
  • student involvement
  • any other academic issues

The first-year advisors are available by appointment or during walk-in advising hours.  To schedule an appointment, visit the First Year Advising webpage.

Department Advisors

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors meet with an advisor specific to their major department.  These advisors will continue the conversations started in the student's first year and make sure that each student is on track to graduate. To see who the advisor is for your department, visit the Who Is My Advisor webpage.
